Embarking on the journey to explore where you feel stuck or in pain takes courage and vulnerability. I’m here to walk beside you, creating a warm, open, and non-judgmental space where you can feel supported and empowered. Together, we’ll work to untangle the blocks in your life, reconnect with your inner strengths, and nurture the shifts you desire to build a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
I view healing as a dynamic, relational process—non-linear but deeply rooted in the inherent worth and resilience of every person. Using evidence-based practices like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor our work to your unique needs. Drawing from my background in dance, yoga, and somatic movement, I also incorporate experiential, body-based approaches that honor the wisdom of the body.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade teaching movement in its many forms: creative movement, modern dance, yoga, and somatic practices. This experience profoundly shaped my understanding of the stories our bodies hold and the intricate connection between mind and body. My passion for helping others led me to pursue a master’s degree in social work at the University of Utah, where I trained to support individuals in their healing journeys.
In addition to my role as a therapist, I work as an oncology social worker, supporting patients and families navigating cancer. I’ve also served as an advocate and peer counselor at a domestic abuse and sexual assault agency, deepening my commitment to creating safe spaces for healing and growth.
Outside of the office, you can find me on hiking trails, dancing in the studio, or flowing on a yoga mat. At home, I love curling up with a good book and my orange tabby, Mylo, who’s always happy to join me for a quiet moment of rest.
Tara is supervised by Monica Mason, LCSW.

I am passionate about helping young adults navigate the complexities of life transitions, anxiety, and depression with a focus on those in the LGBTQIA+ community. You may be experiencing overwhelming academic or career pressures, struggling with self-doubt, or feeling uncertain about your future. Social relationships, identity exploration, and the pressure to "have it all figured out" can leave you feeling stuck and exhausted. Depression may make it even harder, draining your motivation, making daily tasks feel impossible, and leaving you feeling isolated. It’s easy to compare yourself to others and feel like you’re falling behind, but you’re not alone in these struggles.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I also teach yoga and believe deeply in the connection between mind and body. I incorporate somatic approaches to help you develop a deeper awareness of how emotions are stored in the body, using grounding techniques to support healing and build healthier coping mechanisms. Alongside somatic work, I integrate Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to tailor our sessions to your unique needs. My practice is rooted in collaboration and respect, focusing on your strengths while providing tools and strategies that align with your personal goals. I take a flexible, holistic approach to ensure you feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Together, we will create a safe space to explore your emotions, build stronger connections, and develop strategies for navigating life’s challenges. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, or simply wanting to feel more grounded in your daily life, I am here to guide you toward healing in a way that feels holistic and authentic and I’d love to work with you!
When I’m not in the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my cat, Mr. Mo, watching an Apple TV series, reading, or flowing on my yoga mat.

I feel that healing doesn’t always have to be so serious (though we’ll tackle the serious stuff too). My approach to therapy is rooted in connection, curiosity, and compassion with the understanding that every journey is unique. I am dedicated to providing an affirmative, inclusive, and non-judgemental space to explore your inner processes and external experiences that have led you here today. Together, we’ll reconnect with the parts of yourself that may feel lost or hidden.
I specialize in working with adults who have experienced trauma, dissociative disorders, and experiencing suicidal ideations. I know how exhausting it can be to carry these experiences alone. With extensive training and experience, I see the impact that trauma has on our mental well-being and the complex way that it shows up in our behaviors. Through EMDR I help my clients create new associations with traumatic experiences, leading to a reduction in symptoms and an increased sense of control and empowerment. Along with EMDR, we will use Internal Family Systems, to help you connect compassionately with your inner world, releasing the past and allowing you to feel more aligned with your true self and cope with the ebbs and flows of life with confidence.
Outside of practicing therapy, my work involves clinical training/consulting with homeless service agencies, the Salt Lake Legal Defenders, and Somebody’s Thinking About You, a non-profit organization rooted in bringing awareness, reducing stigma, and educating the action sports community about mental wellness and suicide prevention.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me hanging at home with my partner and our two cats Frank and Luna, or playing in the mountains!
