Hi, I’m Monica (she/her)!
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that healing doesn’t always have to be so serious (though we’ll tackle the serious stuff too). My approach to therapy is rooted in connection, curiosity, and compassion with the understanding that every journey is unique. I am dedicated to providing an affirmative, inclusive, and non-judgemental space to explore your inner processes and external experiences that have led you here today. Together, we’ll reconnect with the parts of yourself that may feel lost or hidden.
I specialize in working with adults who have experienced trauma, dissociative disorders, and experiencing suicidal ideations. I know how exhausting it can be to carry these experiences alone. With extensive training and experience, I see the impact that trauma has on our mental well-being and the complex way that it shows up in our behaviors. Through EMDR I help my clients create new associations with traumatic experiences, leading to a reduction in symptoms and an increased sense of control and empowerment. Along with EMDR, we will use Internal Family Systems, to help you connect compassionately with your inner world, releasing the past and allowing you to feel more aligned with your true self and cope with the ebbs and flows of life with confidence.
Outside of practicing therapy, my work involves clinical training/consulting with homeless service agencies, the Salt Lake Legal Defenders, and Somebody’s Thinking About You, a non-profit organization rooted in bringing awareness, reducing stigma, and educating the action sports community about mental wellness and suicide prevention.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me hanging at home with my partner and our two cats Frank and Luna, or playing in the mountains!
